Sexting!

I really don't think that kids really quite understand what they are getting themselves into when they click the send button on there cool touch-screen phones. They don't think about what the consequences could be by sending the vulgar image they have on their screen to all their friends. Parents can enforce more and more what their moral standards are, but the truth is that if the kids don't want to follow those standards; they are not going to. Everyone has their own mind, that is why we are distinguished as individuals. What may seem wrong to one person may not be to another. Parents may often feel they are to blame if their kid gets caught sexting, or doing something else that is wrong. This is very sad because half of the time parents are not to blame, and it is heart-wrenching to see them take the blame. I believe that kids just do things by impulse and excitement, not in an attempt to do something illegal and break heavy consequent laws. The laws that have been set to play I believe are very reasonable and appropriate. They need to be in place so that kids will begin to realize that there are consequences to their actions. I believe one of the biggest factors in sexting would have to be technology. Now a days you can do pretty much anything just from your phone without others knowing about it. This is the problem at times with the sending of inappropriate images. Kids send pictures to each other thinking that know one else will get a hold of them. The government alone can pull up all the text messages and activity that you do on your phone. Another major issue with the technology is that you can send things to anyone, which is often where kids are getting many of their charges. They receive an image then send it to 10 other people. Then, they are not only able to get charged with having child pornography but they can also be charged with distributing it to other. Charges do add up. Eventually, with these new laws in place I believe the crime in this field will decrease, however, there will always be those few that just don't get it. These crimes would also greatly decrease if image sending was removed from cell phones, that would be the best solution, i think. I do feel that technology is the issue with sexting.
